Aoukaz, Tunisia, 27th April 1943. Depicting
Lyall charging the
German 88mm gun position single handed (one other supporting
Guardsman had been shot and killed) With pistol in one hand and dirk in the
other, Lyall leaped forward firing and slashing, Five men fell at his feet,
before he was overpowered and hacked to death. The scene was witnessed by
a wounded Guardsman on the ridge.
