Hitler Youth units played a prominent role in the defence of
Berlin. notably in the anti tank role, in which they excelled.
This well armed HJ Junge is wearing the M42 pattern HJ Feuerwehr (fire
defence squads) tunic and trousers. This was a practical uniform for
service in the field and was frequently preferred, where available, to
that shown being worn by the second figure. The tunic had four concealed
button sat the front and this HJ has added M38 HJ shoulder straps - the
narrow twisted red cord shows the wearer to be a Kriegsfreiwilliger or
war volunteer. headgear consists of a M42 steel helmet. This HJ has also
been awarded the infantry assault badge. HJ notably
